The savory, spicy Creole flavor of jambalaya meets up with pasta in this easy and incredibly delicious jambalaya pasta recipe! If you’ve had something like this at a chain restaurant (that was probably 1500 calories and loaded with salt), you can make a healthier, delicious version right at home!

Our Creole Cooking & Seasoning Sauce takes care of all of the chopping and seasoning to perfection for you. Mesa de Vida helps you get an amazing dinner on the table in about 20 minutes, and you don’t even have to dirty a cutting board or lift a knife. (This makes a great recipe when entertaining friends, too!)

RECIPE NOTES:

  • Gluten – You can make this recipe entirely gluten free by using any gluten free pasta of your choice.
  • Vegetarian – Swap out the sausage for your favorite vegetarian alternative, and leave out the shrimp.
  • Goes great with a crisp white wine.

I hope you enjoy this homemade jambalaya pasta, or “jampasta” recipe!

Cheers!

Jambalaya-Inspired Pasta

Servings 4 -6 servings

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground sausage preferably nitrate and sugar free; or use your favorite vegetarian sausage
  • 1 jar Mesa de Vida Creole Cooking & Seasoning Sauce
  • 3/4 cup half & half
  • 6 oz frozen shrimp if using fresh, add just at the end of cooking and simmer just until cooked through
  • 12 oz hot cooked pasta
  • salt and extra hot sauce, to taste Mesa de Vida cooking sauces are extremely low in sodium, so you salt to your own tastes/health needs
  • optional: shredded parmesan cheese, red pepper flakes, and fresh basil for serving

Instructions

  • While the pasta is cooking, heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sausage to the skillet and cook until golden brown, breaking up into crumbles as it cooks.
  • Add the Mesa de Vida Creole Cooking & Seasoning Sauce and salt to taste. Simmer for 2 minutes.
  • Add the half and half and shrimp to the pan. Bring to a simmer, cook until the shrimp is cooked and the sauce is thickened to heavy-cream consistency. Add hot sauce to taste, if you wish.
  • Stir in the hot cooked pasta. Top with parmesan, hot red pepper flakes, and fresh basil if you like.
  • Enjoy!
